Well, I am going to a wedding in PA for the weekend, so I doubt that I will post any new comics for the next couple days. Hopefully I will get back to them soon. I know they stink, but I am having fun creating them.

Sorry about the inside jokes on today's strip. If you don't know where the characters are coming from, then you must not have visited the home of the stripping competition I am a part of. Read through these two threads and it will all become clear.

I suppose if I was a real stripper (the kind that writes comic strips), I would have a whole plot planned out, with lots of characters to introduce and personalities and everything. However, I am just winging it, I really have no idea where this is going from day to day.

Well, in the grand tradition of Sunday comics I present you with the first color version of "A Bit Bent." It isn't any better than the Black and White versions, but it has the power to offend more of your senses.

Well, I am trying to improve each and every day, but progress is slow. I am at least growing more familiar with some of the drawing tools in photoshop. So, even if the artistic quality remains low, I am producing this garbage at a faster pace.

I just want everyone to know that I am not proud of what I am doing. However, all three of my strips have made my wife laugh out loud, so I consider it worth it. I am also only slightly suspicious that it was pity laughter. Have you been checking out the other comic strips at worth1000 (link)? They are all better than mine.

So here is my second strip. I know it is too soon to hope for improvement, but at least it took me less time to create this one.

So, here it is. My first comic strip. Drawing it was much harder than I expected. I can freehand okay, with a pencil and paper. Not that I think I am good or anything, just okay. However, creating this using a mouse and the pencil tool was a real challenge. Hopefully I will get much better. Anyway, here it is in all its glory.

So I'm going to start stripping

I have an odd sense of humor, most people fail to get my jokes and often fail to even notice when I am trying to be funny. On top of this, I cannot draw. Combine these two traits, and you can clearly see that it would be foolish of me to begin drawing a comic strip. So, why would I do it? Well, the story begins with the site worth1000.com. I have been a member there for nearly two years, under the user name chortler. One year ago, a forum battle was started, in which a score of people decided to draw a comic strip a day, until only one artist was left standing. The results of this awesome contest can be seen here. So, now they are doing it again. I am not nearly so foolhardy to believe that i can win this contest, nor even produce the quality of strips that the other will, but I am still going to give this a try. I want to learn, to grow, to become better as an artist. Hopefully this will enable me to do so, while encouraging me through the process. So, if you are here, reading this blog, and you laugh, then great. If you cry, then i am sorry, and if there are only a very few strips to see, then consider it not a failed experiment, but an eye-opening experience for a wiser artist. If you wish to see the other strips in this competition, you will find them here.
